Birdman and NBA YoungBoy Drop Joint Mixtape ‘From the Bayou’
Birdman and YoungBoy Never Broke Again join forces on their long-awaited collaborative mixtape From the Bayou.
While the two have worked together in the past, this marks their first official joint project. The 10-track set, which doesn’t include any features, was first announced in early 2018, but didn’t arrive until nearly four years later.
The Cash Money CEO and Baton Rouge rapper go back and forth on tracks including “Choppa Boy,” “Alligator Walk,” and “Young Stunna.”
“I think he’s the next biggest young superstar the game has ever had,” Birdman told Rap-Up of YoungBoy in 2018. “Talent wise, he’s an animal. He’s a monster. I had the pleasure of being around him, see how he worked, and I think he’s gonna be the next biggest superstar in the world, as the youngsters. I watched his ethics, he’s very intelligent. I’m anxious and excited to see what’s gonna happen.”
YoungBoy’s latest album Sincerely, Kentrell was released in September and debuted at No. 1. He recently earned his first Grammy nomination for Best Melodic Rap Performance for “WUSYANAME,” his collaboration with Tyler, the Creator.
