DJ Andre 905 Ft. Stay Out Late – Fawad (7th Chamber Remix)

This spring Andre 905 is dropping a compilation project titled “Toronto vs The 90s” where various up and coming artists from Toronto, handpicked by Andre himself, rap over classic instrumentals from the 90s along with instrumentals influenced by the 90s Golden Era sound.

The project features Toronto scene notables such as Stay Out Late, AR Paisley, NoJokeJigsaw, Raz Fresco, Roney, Snackz, Patrik, Meeno Giinchy and an unreleased verse by the legendary Sean Price on a single with Casino Costa.

The concept for the project was to showcase Toronto’s versatility while also highlighting the skill of its upcoming emcees; “Toronto has been a musical hub for decades, starting in the late 80s/ early 90s, when bars and lyricism was paramount. I just wanted to show the world, in this day and age that Toronto artists can really come with it and be on par with any hip hop generation.”,

explained Andre when asked about his inspiration for the project. For the projects lead single, DJ Andre 905 enlists the help of the rising Toronto collective named Stay Out Late for the record titled “Fawad (7th Chamber Freestyle).” Stay Out Late consists of city staples; Casino Costa, Tremayne, Charlie Noiir, and Scotty IV.

Fresh off of a busy 2019 which saw the collective open for Rich Homie Quan and Villian Park as well as headline local festivals, NXNE and CMW. The record is the perfect canvas, as the artists trade fierce bars injected with witty wordplay over the iconic Wu-Tang Rza produced instrumental. The Shorty Shak / Eric Walker directed visuals match the raw aggression of the record – paying homage to a handful of classic music videos from the era. A keen eye should be able to spot the influences, much like the project itself, which are rooted in hip hop lore and seeped in Toronto sauce.
