Skilla Baby Survives Hail of Gunfire in Drive-By Shooting
On Friday (May 23), Local 4 News Detroit reported more details surrounding what police are calling a targeted attempt on Skilla Baby‘s life. According to police, over 20 shots were fired at the rapper as he drove down 8 Mile and Centralia, in Redford Township, Mich. He suffered three gunshot wounds, including being grazed in the head, before crashing into a nearby building. When police arrived on the scene, they found the rapper’s empty vehicle. A witness transported Skilla to the hospital, where he is recovering from his injuries.
Footage of the aftermath of the incident shows Skilla’s black Chevrolet Tahoe smashed through a brick building with its airbag deployed and several bullet holes in the door. Over two dozen evidence markers were placed on the scene, marking shell casings recovered from the shooting.
Police say the shots came from a dark-colored SUV that fled the scene following the incident. The shooting is currently under investigation. Authorities believe the shooting was targeted. They have not revealed a motive for the crime.
Skilla has yet to publicly comment on the harrowing incident. XXL has reached out to Skilla Baby’s team and the Redford Police Department for comment.
Skilla is currently working on his new album following the release of his most recent project, Crack Music 3, last November. The offering features guest appearances from Tee Grizzley, Peezy, Hunxho, Toosii and others.
