Playboi Carti Claims He’s Banned From Met Gala, Shows Off His Fit

Playboi Carti didn’t get to have the blue carpet moment he hoped for at the 2025 Met Gala because he was allegedly banned from fashion’s biggest night.
Playboi Carti Feels Like He Got Kicked Out of Prom
On Tuesday (May 6), about 24 hours after the Met Gala kicked off at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on May 5, Playboi Carti debuted what would have been his fly attire for the evening in a post on his Finsta. He also shared a bit of disappointment over the ban, but the happiness of having his lady by his side fixed all that.
“MET GALA BANNED ME FELT LIKE WE GOT KICKED OUT OF PROM BUT WE GOOD @ft.gioo WITH ME IM A HAPPY MAN F**K EM @chromeheartsofficial,” he wrote as the caption on Instagram.
XXL has reached out to the Met for a statement regarding Carti’s alleged ban.
The images show Carti running down a hotel hallway and posing in a room with Giovanna “Gio” Ramos, a Brazilian model who got more face time in rap circles when she was hanging out with Lil Yachty and the Concrete Boys last year. In late 2024, streamer Young Dabo had Gio on his stream and named the title of the video I Hired Playboi Carti’s Stylist To Style Me (Gio). So, apparently that may have been how Gio and Carti initially connected.
With his neck, wrist and fingers on froze, Carti opted for a classic black-and-white ensemble from Chrome Hearts for the Gala: white button-down shirt, black leather jacket, black leather pants, black skully and black Converse sneakers. Gio chose all-black everything for the occasion with a blazer-style dress and a sleek ponytail to tie it all together.
