Inside the Creative Chaos of Lowfeye’s Debut Album ‘Nosange’
The Creative Process Behind ‘Nosange’
Lowfeye’s highly anticipated debut album, Nosange, which officially dropped on March 27, 2026, has quickly become a focal point within the South African hip-hop landscape. The project is not merely a collection of tracks but a testament to a rigorous, often unpredictable creative journey that demanded both artistic vision and immense flexibility from everyone involved.
Nhlanhla “Nivo” Ndimande, who served as the executive producer alongside Lowfeye under the NOSANGE Ent/MODAR banner, recently provided a candid look into the intense, sometimes humorous, and ultimately rewarding process of curating the album’s final tracklist. The production team faced the unique challenge of managing an artist whose creative output remained relentless even after the project appeared to be complete.
The Challenge of Constant Evolution
“What made the whole process tough was that, once the whole project was done, and then we decided on this is what Days Before Nosange was going to be, this man (Lowfeye) sent five more songs,” Nivo recalled. “So we had to start the process again.”

The pre-album EP, Days Before Nosange, released in January 2026, was strategically designed to build anticipation with its seven tracks, including the notable collaboration “Bags On Bags” featuring Priddy Ugly. However, Lowfeye’s creative momentum did not stall. The constant influx of fresh material forced the production team to return to the drawing board multiple times, balancing the desire for perfection with the necessity of finalizing the project.
A Testament to Artistic Dedication
The team eventually reached a point where they had to playfully attempt to ignore new submissions to maintain the project’s scope. Nivo noted, “And then after that, we decided as a team we are going to ignore him. So we kept sending more music. And I think it was two weeks ago his music came out. I was like, no ways, we’re not changing this thing. He played it, and we were all like, ‘Hey, sharp, it’s fine, we’ll take it off.'”
This back-and-forth dynamic ultimately served to enrich the 14-track album. The final product opens with the introspective “40k Feet (Intro)” and features standout records such as “Mission Man,” “Mabulala Amakhosi,” and the title track, “Nosange.” Nivo emphasized that despite the technical hurdles, the experience was deeply enjoyable, largely due to Lowfeye’s unmatched work ethic.
“I think it was a fun process for us, and just purely because you know it’s not every day you find an artist who works as hard as Lowfeye,” Nivo added. “This guy works really hard, and he knows exactly what he wants. And his favourite words are always ‘Trust me Biggest Nivo’.”
Personal Storytelling and Industry Impact
Beyond the technical production, Nosange is defined by its vulnerability. Lowfeye infused the album with deeply personal storytelling, including poignant tributes to his late mother, the namesake of the project. The album successfully blends hip-hop with soulful elements, showcasing a significant evolution from his earlier releases like Mfana kaMakhulu and Imibuzo.
The audience response has been overwhelmingly positive, with fans praising the album’s sonic diversity and emotional depth. As early streaming numbers continue to climb, Nivo’s insights serve as a reminder of the trust and camaraderie required to navigate the complexities of the music industry and deliver a compelling debut.
