The update came through an Instagram Story shared from Create Mode nearly a day ago. In the brief but emotional post, the Johannesburg-based musician, born Bongumenzi Gumede, wrote, “Album 45% done. 😢” alongside a crying emoji. The simple message hinted at both the dedication and emotional weight behind the project currently taking shape in the studio.

Blue Pappi has steadily built a reputation within South Africa’s hip-hop and R&B landscape thanks to his introspective writing and soulful delivery. His 2025 album EMADLELWENI ALUHLAZA marked a defining moment in his career. The 21-track project, released in August 2025, earned praise for its storytelling and emotional depth. That release followed his 2024 album OHLAZA and the romantic EP UThando Olufudumele, which arrived earlier in 2026 just ahead of Valentine’s Day.

The progress update lands during a particularly active season in the South African hip-hop scene. Blue Pappi has recently appeared on collaborative projects, including Mr Bully by LaCabra, a February 2026 release featuring names such as Nasty C, A-Reece, Sastii, Lowfeye, and Mnqobi Yazo. He is also expected to appear on Lowfeye’s upcoming debut album Nosange, scheduled for release later in March 2026.

Despite the progress milestone, key details surrounding the forthcoming album remain unknown. The title, themes, guest features, and official release timeline have not yet been revealed. What is clear is that the KwaZulu-Natal-rooted artist, often associated with the Qwelfontein or Qweller movement, is deep in the creative process and shaping what could become one of his most personal projects to date.
