André 3000 Surprises With New Piano Instrumental Album
André 3000 surprises fans with yet another instrumental album. This one is called 7 Piano Sketches.
André 3000 Releases New Album
On Monday (May 5), ahead of his appearance at the 2025 Met Gala, 3 Stacks quietly dropped a new LP on DSPs. The project is made up of seven piano instrumentals and contains no bars.
7PS was partially recorded prior to his Grammy-nominated instrumental album New Blue Sun, which dropped in November of 2023, while the origin of the LP came about nearly 10 years ago when the OutKast rapper was playing a piano with his son. The original title for the offering was The Best Worst Rap Album In History.
“It’s jokingly the worst rap album in history because there are no lyrics on it at all,” Stacks says of the new album. “It’s the best because it’s the free-est emotionally and best I’ve felt personally. It’s the best because it’s like a palette cleanser for me.'”
Like his previous album, 7 Piano Sketches features some interesting titles, with the longest being: “when you’re a ant and you wake up in an awesome mood, about to drive your son to school, only to discover that you left the lights on in the car last night so your battery is drained.”
As part of the rollout for the album, 3K showed up to the Met Gala with a piano strapped to his back, similar to the album’s cover art. The new album comes on the heels of news that OutKast will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in the 2025 class later this year.
